Currently, there are not any policies in the Georgia Legislature, so we are going to focus on Healthy People 2030 (https://health.gov/healthypeople/objectives-and-data/browse-objectives).

For this assignment, you will pick one topic from Healthy People 2030 from one of the objectives: Health Conditions, Health Behaviors, Populations, Settings & Systems, & Social Determinants of Health. There are multiple objectives and topics that are very broad, so once you select the objective, you can narrow it down for your selected population that you chose.

 

  1. Select an objective from Healthy People 2030.
  2. Select a population to focus on from your objective:
    1. Can be age related or developmental stage related
    2. Can be certain ethnic group or cultural
    3. Can be subset of population
  3. Determine a SMART goal on how you will educate this group about the objective and topic you selected.
  4. Determine outcome objectives for your population.
  5. Develop a communication strategy to teach and make your population aware of your selected topic.
    1. Can be a Facebook Page, Instagram, Prezi, website, etc.
      1. If you complete one of these pages, it needs to able to be accessed by faculty and peers.
    2. Can do a video or other audio/visual presentation (needs to be at least 5 minutes)
  6. Post your communication strategy on D2L in the appropriate Dropbox by 11/21/2020 at 11:59 pm.
    1. Comment on at least 2 different peers and evaluate their strategy.
    2. Your comment should have at least 2 things they did well and 2 things that need improvement.
    3. Response due by 11/27/2020 at 11:59 pm.
  7. Write a 3-5 page paper that describes your processes above and why your topic is relevant.
    1. Paper is due by 11/21/2020 at 11:59 pm.
    2. Needs to include 5 scholarly references. Remember, scholarly references are from peer reviewed journals, and current (within the past 5 years). Your book is an acceptable source.
