A well-written paper will thoroughly address the learning objectives that we have covered throughout the course. This is a book analysis, not a book review of “Being Mortal.” This means that this is NOT a summary of the reading. Instead, you will need to discuss and analyze your book according to the learning objectives you have learned in this course. Make bolded headings for each learning objective you will discuss. Not doing so will result in point deductions. Discuss at least 3 learning objectives from the list below in relation to the book. Describe the learning objectives in-depth. Don’t define them, but discuss the issues thoroughly and show your integration of materials. Provide justification for why the learning objectives are important and cite the textbook and lecture notes. The point of this assignment is to relate the book contents to the learning objectives. Please leave out personal experiences unless it enhances an example from the book, “Being Mortal.”

For your paper, you will need to have these components:

5) References

Length

The final paper will be 5-6 pages double spaced. Your font size must be 12 point or smaller. Use either Times New Roman or Calibri only. Do NOT increase your font size to reach the required page limit. This will lead to point deductions.

A thorough, well-written paper will easily be 6 pages. This paper will be a demonstration of all that you have learned during this semester. The title page and reference page do NOT count towards the 5-6 page requirement.

Formatting

I have uploaded a pre-formatted APA style research paper template unto Canvas. Use that for your final paper, as it comes with 1 inch margins, a title page, and reference section all setup for you. If you decide to format the paper on your own, you will need to create your own title page (required) and have 1 inch margins.

You will need to use APA style for within-text citations and for references. Here are a few examples of within-text citation:

According to Gawande (2014) sudden death is less likely than a slow decline in health and the inability to care for oneself, extending the process of dying.
Music, mass media, and other art forms influence our understanding of death and dying (DeSpelder & Strickland, 2015).
Lee (2019) in her lecture notes discussed the importance of grief.
Undergoing the grieving process is an important aspect to a bereaved individual’s well-being (Lee, 2019).

I have shown you exactly how you should cite your textbook and lecture notes within your paper. If for some reason, you do not follow this format, I will know that you did not read the directions carefully.
