You need to narrow down topic to single organization or company. “Equality and diversity management at workplaces in Canada” is a HUGE topic that is far too complex for a single student to address in a first-year class (or any class).

Please email me with a scaled-back version of this idea. Find a particular organization or company that interests you, and that can give you some information access. I will help you fine-tune your idea.

Subject: Project Proposal – name your idea here

Introduction

I am writing this memo at your request to pitch my idea for this semester’s project. I wish to look into equality and diversity management at workplaces in Canada. In particular, I wish to funnel my project down to the awareness of the Canadian workforce vulnerable to discrimination, of the current workplace diversity and equality policies that protect them. Please provide feedback on this proposal, suggesting ways in which I can realize my objective.

Summary of the Project

The diversity and equality awareness project will serve to tackle what I feel is the main reason behind prevalent inclusion discrepancies at workplaces. The current Canadian workforce may be undergoing workshops to train them on inclusive practices, but the real issue lies in personal initiative. In addition, the project will look into current management practices in workplaces, both formal and informal in achieving harmoniously heterogeneous workplaces. This will serve to highlight what is being done and what is not being done with regard to inclusion in workplaces. This project will be beneficial to managers and employees, as it will be a mirror with which they can reflect their own input on inclusion.

Project Details

The project will utilize both primary and secondary sources of data. For the primary sources, questionnaires will be printed out and issued to particular groups of individuals for responses. This may be executive figures within campus and if possible without. They will also be equally issued to both formal and informal employers and employees. This will serve to consider both facets of workplaces and get a real idea of what inclusion really means to individual people.

For secondary sources of data, the Canadian government and labour union websites will be used. This will be in an attempt to draw insight on the existent inclusion policies put in place. It will also be in an effort to identify what procedures are in existence to ensure adherence. Various landmark rulings will also be considered and their subsequent effect on inclusion policies in workplaces. All this will be done in order to identify the role of authorities in inclusion policies.

This project will be beneficial to minority and vulnerable groups as it will shed light on a pertinent issue prevalent in workplaces. It will also make them aware of what they are entitled to and how to ensure they get it. As for managers, it will serve as a reminder on the policies that they are supposed to uphold in managing workplaces.

All this will be done within the course of this semester as soon as you give me a greenlight on the viability of the project.

Qualifications

I am the right individual for this project as I hold inclusion dear. Being a relative to people who have for one reason or the other experienced discrimination at a point in their life, makes this issue very personally appealing. In addition, the wake of calls by human rights activists to put an end to discrimination in workplaces makes this a pertinent topic of research. Therefore, these and numerous other reasons make this project a huge personal responsibility.

Project Objectives

This project will be undertaken to fulfill the following objectives;

  • To highlight the role of authority figures in achieving workplace inclusion, and
  • To highlight the role of awareness in achieving important milestones in inclusion practices at workplaces.

Solutions

I aim to get down to the real reason behind persistent inclusion discrepancies at workplaces. Once the real reason is evident, then society may tackle it instead of generalized practices that ignore the root cause.

Research to be Conducted

I aim to prioritize primary data over secondary data in my research. I will issue few questionnaires to students within campus and some key authority figures within the campus. In addition, I will also issue the questionnaires to a few people without campus to get insight on the situation in the society.

Subsequently, I will delve into secondary sources of data with much emphasis being placed on websites of authority figures in Canada. This research will look into explicit or implicit evidences of workplace inclusion support by these entities.
