The link will lead you to the letter the Stanford survivor of rape read in court. Her rapist Brock Allen Turner who only received a sentence of six months in jail in 2015. He only served three months. One may discern a pattern of sexual violence and its relationship to power within the context of the readings in the course.

In 1920, the survivor released a book, Chanel Miller, Know My Name: A Memoir. The book made it to several bestseller lists. It is an incredibly brave account of a traumatic and life altering event. Miller reappropriated her narrative identity and subjectivity even as she was constantly referred to as the unconscious intoxicated woman.

The Pied Piper of R&B – AKA R. Kelly has a history in the entertainment business of abusing, degrading, and grooming women. In the famous docuseries, Life Time presents R. Kelly in the spotlight. His personal history of abuse, his relationships with women, and his narcissistic ploy to attract media attention, is analyzed and deconstructed from the perspective of survivors and grieving families of victims and from analysis of psychological experts.
For purposes of the special Db, you are required to use material from Episodes 5 & 6 to be augmented with course materials. To gain insights into episodes 5 & 6, you may watch the earlier episodes. However, it is not required.
Q. Provide a critical psycho analysis while simultaneously deconstructing the power dynamics between R. Kelly and the survivors.
