This week’s quality improvement assignment has been instrumental in clarifying HEDIS measures and the overall intended goal to improve the quality of care while adding value. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services mentions that HEDIS Measures relate to many significant public health issues, such as cancer, heart disease, smoking, asthma, and diabetes. These quality measures act as guides to preventative care that leads to improved long-term health results. Due to technological changes and increased complexity associated with patient care preventative approaches are crucial to decrease negative outcomes and remain cost-efficient.
